Bloodroot really is lovely, isn't it?

I've never heard of "squirrel corn" before, but it looks like a great plant too.

I bought the dicentra canadensis on our trip to the nursery after we went to Advent Gardens. They sat in their pots for at least a month, alternatively shriveling and bouncing back. Maybe next spring I'll have enough to share.

Think I know why it is called "squirrel corn", I had one come up earlier and it was eaten pretty much right away. Wonder if it will push new growth or I should just add it to the long, long, long, list of lost plants.

Congratulations! Bloodroot is so pretty! Do you happen to have the single or double? There is a nursery near me that sells the double and it is just beautiful.

Hmmmm....I didn't realize bloodroot was such a persnickity plant. A bunch family members have the double from NH down to MD and it grows well in all of our zones. It makes me wonder if the double is actually a little more hardy/easy to grow than the single???
