My Weeds are Looking Good!

Oh yes, the dandelions are robust, the clover is everywhere and that creepy crab like grass is simply thriving. This crazy cool and moist August is great for weeds.

I had various Lychnis potted up for giveaways and they're melting with the cool temps and rain. On the other hand, my summer sown sprouts have gone in the ground with no problems so I guess I can't complain. It's just different.

What's happening with you guys?

Crab grass galore and nut sedge everywhere. I can't complain too much since my garden was a field this time last year.

Day lilies are just about done. I get a bloom here and there from some of the smaller plants, but now its time for the sedum, chives, and mums. I am getting a last flush from my echinacea. Rudbeckia and Achillea still going strong. My current projects: Moving my Liliums and day lilies to a different spot, Scrambling to get all my cuttings stuck, Collecting seeds to sow NOW!

I have LOTS of weeds too! ugh...I need to get out there and get them before they go to seed or get too big.

I do have alot blooming though: lots of sedums, some rudebeckias, several lobelia, mums are starting, gaillardia, coreopsis tripteris ( about 7 feet tall and beautiful), butterfly bushes, a few asters, toadlillies starting, mini pink rose, scabiosa butterfly blue, variagated obedient plant, japanese anemone, tail end of the phlox, many crainsbill geranium (rosanne, buxton's blue, lacamiastreme sp?, midnight rider, and bloody crainsbill), a few daylilies, hibiscus, kalameris, persicaria, yarrow the pearl, 4 clematis, 2 veronicas, end of the ballon flowers, catmint, lamium, reblooms on munstead laverdar, and a few hostas.

I need to start digging things up for the fall swap in Hilliard. And I need to move some things around. I also have things to plant that have been on my potting bench all summer. (hiding my head in shame - not really - you probbly have a few too!)

My tomatoes and peppers are doing well. Life is good in the garden. Need more time, though.

Geee do I ever know what bev means! My weeds are thriving too. Maybe now that the three big guys are back in shcool I can get something done.

I did get several cranesbills potted today and all but one of my "bench sitters" plunked in the ground. I also planted three pots of vines that I got at Meijer for $1 each stuck in by my screen. I got two Honeysuckle vines (Like yours Beverly!) and a mystery vine that I will yank out in the spring if I don't like it.

By the way...I'm having the worst time with dusty mildew this year. Am I alone in this or is it just the weather?

I am not having a horrible time with powdery mildew (we're talking about the same thing, right?). Just the normal occurrances on the lilacs and, oh yes, a Prunus cisitna that I bought from Willoway in Hilliard :)
