No it has nothing to do with dial-up.

I did a search on the GW website late February and found this old post from Christmas of 2005. Now, since the fix is doing editing in your Windows program, do it AT YOUR OWN RISK! I have taken the risk and am happy to say I haven't seen my Questionmarket.com survey pop-up since March.

Use Firefox and add the plug-in No script. That will take care of them.

I'm with lykaon... download the web browser firefox..
after you install the browser, download their add-on Add-Block Plus.. I've included links for both... I'm assuming you are currently using Internet Explorer? You can have both browsers on your computer with no problem.

I use IExplorer and do not have any problems with pop-ups. Go to yout Tools settings on your browser and be sure that Pop Up Blocker is enabled.

I would also suggest you run an anti-spyware program on a regular basis. Chances are, that is contributing to your problem.

I never see an add, and I have wondered why I don't even see them when I should see them, do you have IE 7 with NOD 32 Anti Virus. My computer was all but locked up until I installed Eset NOD 32 which knocks out so many viruses in side of Norton as part of Norton AV that you would not believe me if I told you, but I stopped counting at 20. They had embedded themselves so well that I had to reinstall windows soon there after. I have the NOD 32 on all the time, it works.
