I am not sure what the problem with mine was. I had "stella" for about 4 years and each year she grew more wide and rounded, healthy looking, but she never bloomed very profusely.

Maybe 5 blooms in July and then nothing in the fall, or some years maybe one or two blooms later on.

I got in one of my "what have you done for me lately" moods and determined I would remove her and plant something else.

I've got quite a few of them. I get one nice flush of blooms, then an odd one here or there for the rest of summer.

If you dead head and remove seed pods they will bloom all summer.

They don't bloom all summer period. It is a marketing scam. As previously noted once in a while a plant will bloom more than once. I have had five plants for 10 years and am sick of them. Sometimes their blooms barely poke up beyond their leaves.

I bought mine about 4 years ago. For the first 2 years, it hardly did anything. For the last 2 years it has flowered on and off from midsummer til frost. I don't fertilize it all that much and it seems to be doing fine. It's one plant I wouldn't mind more of! Marg

Perhaps if they are not blooming you might need to separate them. Divide the clumps, fertilize and replenish the soil. Are they getting enough sun?

I believe Stella de Oro is the longest bloomer of all daylily but it has it's most bloomy season early on and a few thereafter until frost. Maybe the second longest bloomer is Daylily 'happy returns' in my garden.

Stella can be grown from it's own seed and also is quicker to make more of by division.

I'm not into the daylily foliage so as soon as the first flush of blooms is over I cut the whole plant down to 1 " ! It completely regrows and blooms again later in the summer/fall- until frost knocks it out Oct or Nov.

It's any easy plant for the fuss free gardener. It's also a good pass along plant for the beginner. However...there are plenty of other more beautiful plants like delphinium!
