Very interesting ...... thanks for sharing that, Pallida. I googled it and found some information about it on the NASA Science News website. The link is below.

Interesting! I need to get my camera and tripod out for that!

Thanks for the heads up Pallida!

    Suzie...Thanks for the link!

Yes, Suzie. Thank you for the link. I had SOME info on the event, but your link was much more informative, including the video. I plan to sit on my deck, which faces East, and watch the moonrise behind the forest of cedars and oaks that surround me. I think it will be spectacular!

You're welcome! I'll be setting up my camera and tripod too, on our deck which also faces east. One of the many things I love about living out here is that there is very little to obstruct our views of moonrises, sunrises, and sunsets. I found a website with a moonrise calendar and I'll link it below. It also has moonrise photography tips. Moonrise on the 19th is at 8:03 pm in Oklahoma City.

I have been waiting for this super moon effect since a week, We are going to camp out in the backyard this evening! As I always enjoy the full moon light from the spring to fall, often have din in the moonlight and sleep outside (in the tent if weather permits). Have a great weekend you all-Chandra

    Hey, Chandra,
Sounds like fun! Just hope it is not over-cast tonight. Yes, I would love to see rain in our area, but also, want to get the full effect of "Super Moon". The rain seems to be west of us and moving north-east, which would miss us. We'll see. Anyway, enjoy the evening!

I read about this yesterday on CNN. It said this is called a perigee moon. This moon is also abut 30% brighter than normal. The next one won't happen until 2029! The effect on the tides will only be an inch or so, but maybe it will pull all the water tables up enough that any rain we might see next week will stay a bit closer to the top. We can hope, right?

Sunday also marks the official Vernal Equinox! Sprng is officially here! Monday morning, when the Sun rises, it will be straight-up in the east, and set straight down in the West. Longer days are here!

Chandra, dining by moonlight? (sigh...) How romantic. But today, I've got to plant my newly purchased cauliflower before the "waning" of the moon the next 2 weeks.

Does sound romantic, doesn't it?! We're with you, Chandra! Paula, might want to wait until this afternoon to plant your cauliflower. I stepped outside a bit ago, and it's "nippy" out there. I've even turned on my heater to warm up the house. Yep Spring is here! Heater in the AM and AC in the PM (or, at least, a ceiling fan).

I got to get a full shot of it outside my window when I woke up. Just gorgeous!

    Good Morning, Ezzirah!
Just stepped outside and took a couple of shots through the trees. It is still so bright and beautiful! My son, a photographer, came over last night and took some beautiful moonrise shots. I can hardly wait to see them blown up on the computer. He couldn't get horizon shots because of low-hanging clouds, but as it got to the tree-line point, he got some really nice pix, even some with wispy clouds floating across the face. I hate to see it disappear this AM because it is so lovely!

    Jeanie,

Our view of the moonrise was obscured by low clouds too until it got up to treetop level. I was so disappointed that I didn't get to see it rise, but it still was beautiful later in the evening, and still beautiful early this morning when I got up a little before 5 a.m.

    Good Morning, Dawn,
It really WAS an incredible sight! What a great start to Spring! This is my favorite time of year, just hope drought doesn't hamper our gardening plans.

    Good Morning, Connie Lou,
It truly was stunning! I really did enjoy being able to see it, because, unless I am another Betty White, I might not get to see another one. HA
