My Maxillaria porphyrostele is in bloom. I got this plant years ago from Exotic Orchids of Maui on their recommendation it was easy. Not only is it easy to bloom, it grows like gangbusters and I need to repot and divide it at least every 2-3 years. A few members in our Orchid Society have a piece now.
It sits in front of a west facing window behind venetian blinds. Watered once a week or so (less in winter) and is in a standard medium bark mix with perlite and charcoal. The flowers have a nice subtle sweet and clear fragrance reminding me of freesias. Highly recommend this plant for easy of growing and blooming in the home.
