We've only used metal roofs over smaller areas such as entrances, porches, dormers, and other specialty areas. We have not used one over an entire house yet. There may be some very minor additional noise during a major down pour, but if they are insulated properly and you use a heavy gauge of metal, preferably copper, you shouldn't have any problem.
