Before last summer when I planted it on the tree it had spikes 8' and longer. This one is about 6'. I think as the plant gets established the spikes will be longer. I did not expect it to bloom so soon after mounting it.

The background is bananas and figs. The bananas have 4 stalks ripening and the figs will be yielding fruit soon. And titcinis is dancing in the breeze...

I have 2 or 3 divisions available for trade. I will consider those orchids that are leaning to warm growers as I live in Florida.

Are you growing your figs in the ground? My figs are dying off. Think it is nematodes.

Schomburgkias are very popular in Florida. Snowbirds can attach them to trees and forget about them. Are you growing yours in full sun? Our OS has a nursery who specializes in them. I'm tempted to give them a try on a large Date Palm growing in the front of my house. Full sun all day.

Jane, it would grow on that palm. I chose to place it SSE on the tree. It seems to like it. I added a pinch of sphagnum between the plant and tree. Tie it on with something that will rot. Like twine or pantyhose. I use a plastic tape with no adhesive. Home depot sells it. A wire or strong fishing line can damage or kill a tree in time.
