Tiny white thingies could be white fly. Although the picture looks like spider mite damage. Look underneath and see if you see redish specks.

Spider mites are pretty tough to control. Neem oil may work if they aren't too infested. Spinosad also works to a degree.

Actually, the surface of the leaves looks apparently white, but surprisingly barely anything can be seen on the bottom side with the naked eye. There are no redish specks. Yesterday i examined the leaves a bit under magnifying lens and discovered some extra tiny insect-like creatures, if i can believe my eyes.

I've just checked out white flies on the Internet, they seem to be somewhat bigger than mites, one could easily see them without using a lens.

So i reckon i'll be having hard time to extinguish these little mite pests...

It does look like spider mite damage.

Lady bugs eat spider mites, and so do several other predatory types of beneficial insects that you can buy from an insectary and release. Don't buy more insects than you need, because once they have eaten up all the spider mites, they'll move along to someplace else. After all, once they've eaten up all the available food, they have to leave to find more food in order to survive.

I googled and found a place that sells several kinds of the insects that prey upon spider mites, and am linking it because it gives a really good explanation of the different spider mite controls available. I haven't bought anything from this company and know nothing about it, but have bought similar predatory insects from various other companies in the past.

This early in the year, neem usually works well for me. Later on , in the summer months when the infestation is huge, I don't think there's anything around that will make a dent in the spider mite population in OK in the summertime.

There is a very pricey product called Avid that works on spider mites on some ornamental plants, but I haven't used it and don't know if it is labeled for use on edible plants.

I dont really know of anything smaller than spider mites. Thrips perhaps but they are usually larger than spider mites. Spider mites are typically less than 1mm in size and thrips are a little larger than that. I'd agree it looks like spider mites to me.
