They usually stay away from people, you are lucky to have seen him. I like their call but I don't hear it often.

Awww Lucky you! I still have never seen one and I'd love to. It would be great if one came to my feeder but I'm not sure they'll do that. Are you in a rural area swmogardens? Lots of trees?

I got a picture in our front yard a few years ago but haven't seen it since. I do hear them calling in the woods across the road.

they are comical like road runners. you don't want them to linger too long cause they can do as much damage as a chain saw.

My husband and I got to see the greatest thing several years ago--I guess they were banding to go migrate, or something.
We were blessed to see 12 of them, one right after another, flying past.We have several nesting pairs too, could have been parents and young.
