That is normal for the fig and hibiscus. The fig should do ok in the ground. on the hibiscus, I just put pot and all in the ground and then dig it up in the fall and prune it to bring it back inside. Banana likes sun and water.

what a clever idea, planting the plant in its pot in the ground. Makes finding it in the fall easier.
