Help me find SBM, please

So I have been reading here for a few weeks and decided to do the whole organic thing. I call several feed stores in my area and none of them have SBM, CGM or cottonseed meal. But one place did offer to order some SBM meal for me. He tells me it will be here Monday(whichs is not today) and would cost 12.50 for a 50 lb bag. Of course I was all over that. So I go to the feed store today and they tell me they tried to order it but thier vendor did not have any after all. What a waste of time. They said they will continue to look for me. If they find some, then great but I am not going to hold my breathe.

I live in Owasso, OK(basically the Tulsa area) does anyone know of a place around here that carries SBM??

Also when I was calling around, a lot of places were recommending cottonseed hull to fertilize with. What is that?

I looked up yellowpages.com and searched farm feed, feed store, and feed dealers.

Also, dchall gave me a link. Here it is.

thats a pretty cool list. unfortunatly several of the places on there are places i called already when i went through the phone book. i guess i am going to have to expand my search radius a little.

Hi garett

Yeah, frankly, that's all I did.....went to my yellow pages, looked under "feed dealers" & started makin phone calls. Call enough places & you'll find who has SBM in stock & for a reasonable price....like $8 to $12 for a 50lb bag. Right now I'm paying I think $10.25 for 50lbs from Meiser's Feed in Norman,OK

The Broken Arrow Farmers Co-op has some. I haven't picked mine up yet. The girl quoted me $10.75 for a 40 or 50 pound bag. I was even thinking of calling Atwoods here in BA. I know Owasso is a little bit of a drive to BA.

Booster Feed Mill at 5535 East Admiral Place, Tulsa usually has SBM. If you are looking for a significant quantity, it is best to give them a call early in the week and they will fetch it from their suppliers on their Wed./Thurs. pickup run.

Their $14 price for a 50 lb bag of SBM is highway robbery, IMO, but they are just around the corner from my place. I am willing to pay an extra buck or two just for the convenience factor.

I just want to tell everyone thanks for the help. I will probably end up using both of those locations, as well as the list, in the future.

The other feeds store that I was trying to work with has not even bothered to call me back, thats too bad because they are about 1 mile away.
