I still haven't started mine yet but bought some potting soil this weekend, so I should get started on it this week if I can get everything else caught up and have time to make a big mess. I need to go through my seed box and pick out my favorites so I'll be sure and get those done and then go back and do more later. I sowed hellebores in late summer and Japanese Maple in the fall. No hellebores yet but I think they're supposed to germinate pretty early (if they're going to) so I hope to see them soon.

the other day when it was snowing i was sowing seed into some flats and setting the flats out in the yard .
Wallace, the neighbors dog came by to see me. when I looked out the window he had taken some of my wooden markers out of their flats and was happily gnawing on them. When the snow melts I hope I can figure out what is planted in which flat and replace the markers.

I've just completed my 2nd hotbed, using freeby leftovers from a local feed mill, and plan on filling seedflats in the next week. I bought myself a Christmas present this year,-- a kerosene heater to put in the outer greenhouse to keep it warmer at night. New shelves are installed there and those are soon to be filled with flats also. I'm hoping we get a lot of sunny days this winter, I've had way too much clouds and rain to suit me, or my plants. My plan is to start doing some this week since I am home from work. There is still time and what I don't get done this week I'll do in early Feb. I'm really itching to get at it.....

I STILL haven't started my winter sowing. Maybe this week. I think it's still cold enough. brrrrrr

Have been hard at it and have 34 containers out. Hope they do as well as said. If so the plant fiary may have to visit some of you in the night. Have some more I want to do. Lots of vines this year. Got some nice trellis with dragonflies in stain glass on them at lowes for 9.99. Was real happy about that. Judy

I started mid Dec. Warm weather made my annual scabiosa and snaps come up so I moved them into the greenhouse when we got several days of freezing weather.Haven't grown annual scabiosa before and last year my snaps got killed by too many days of freezing weather right after they came. These are fancy " Butterfly" snaps so I'm not taking any chances.

Red veronica also came up but it's made it thru just fine in the freezing temps.
