Bad Winter--

No, We mainly escaped, or was on the edge of the worse ice storms. the one that actually did the damage hear wasnt in many other spots.

but- Oakleif was asking so-- my sis fell last of November, shattered here right ankle, broke her left knee--then, in the way of some smaller hospitals, they messed it up worse, she ended up having surgery at Columbia, to try to save it.in and out of the nursing home--and therin lies my problem! Seems to me as if they save all their viruses for me--trying to recover from my third, picked up at the nursing home.

my brother went into Spf hospital middle of December, for knee replacement---came back in a coma.Drs are saying now to remove his feeding tube, and take him home.

only brother and sister that i have left-so-its just proof that "time" always wins in this game of life.

Ceresone, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother and sister. I lost a brother in 2005 and have a brother and sister left who mean the world to me. Stay strong and try to keep healthy. You mention on your page that your husband has cancer. How is he doing? My thoughts and prayers are with you this morning. Anise

Ceresone - I am sooo sorry. : ( Hope your sister recovers. That's a lot of stress for you to go through. My family has been sick a lot lately too and trying to avoid that four day stomach bug that's going around. Hope you didn't have that. Were the doctors at fault in your brother's surgery? What a shock that things could go so wrong. Sometimes even taking one day at a time seems like more than we can handle but do try and take care of yourself too. I'll keep you in my prayers.

ceresone, my prayers and thoughts are with you too.I think i have a lot of problems sometimes but there is always someone with more than me. I'm 67 and it seems like everyone i love is going and leaving me behind.

Sometimes a day at a time is too long then we have to resort to a minute at a time.

With warm weather soon to come we'll get a chance to spend time in our gardens. I think us gardeners can find moments of healing peace among our plants that helps keep us going.

I was glad to hear how you were doing and hope things gets better.

ceresone, I am so sorry about your brother and sister. Then, on top of that, to get sick yourself... Sometimes I think we are almost better off staying away from doctors.

I just went in to have a spot on the back of my hand checked that had me worried and a couple of moles on my face that I just wanted removed, but not worried about. The first thing he said was that is a cancer on your forehead! Thankfully, it is not the bad kind and the spot on my hand is not....will have them both removed March 7. He asked who my doctor was and I told him I didn't have one! Of course, he said I should have an annual check up which my daughter and MIL have been harping on for years now. It seems to me that everyone I know who starts going at my age (68), gets put on lots of meds, feel like crap, and all they talk about is doctors, and their various illnesses. I may have reached the age where I will start the physicals.....

I do believe once we can all get outside and garden, our spirits and our bodies will be revived! Thank God for gardening.

My Goodness--67--68 and 69- we need to get gardening, dont we?
Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts, and yes, gardening does help!
My husband is at the point that he dosent want me far away from him, but this year he's just going to have to sit and watch--lol. I canned over 500 jars last year, and i'm gardening for fun-more or less, this year.
i want to try different varities of tomatoes (ever grown a white? or a green?) i havent-so i'm experimenting. somehow my seeds seem to grow in unexpected ways too-- i plant 2 seeds--and 10 plants come up!!
and-did i say for fun? i may only can 400 jars this year.
everyone--enjot this weather--this is OUR spring break!

We grew some green tomatoes once. I kept wondering how i would know when they were ripe. They got a sort of whitish cast when they were ripe at least i knew when they were ripe.

I cannot beleive you causually say you canned 500 or 400 jars of food. I thought i was doing good if i got about 150 jars. Did you ever sleep during the summer?
