is it to late to put seed down here in Mass? we bought our house last year, this is our first home, so I dont know much about lawn care in general. The biggest problem is the side yard were the kids and the dog play, its almost like there is no grass there, just dirt. well I shouldnt say no grass, its starts out grass and fades over to dirt. There was grass there last year so I dont know what the issue is.

In this particular spot I will also have to put some topsoil down to level out the area. should I put down lime? honestly I have no idea were to start. All I know is I dont want to use any chemicals b.c of the kids and the dog.
