Mea culpa. I was thinking of my departed Lc. Ann Akagi 'H & R' HCC/AOS.

A vendor lifted my photo and put it on his website! He also gave it a different clonal name, "Hihimanu' !! I know my photo was not copywrited, but it burns me to see someone use my photos without my permission!

you do not have to formally register a photo for the copyrights to still apply.

I do not know where you posted the photo, but most sites have a copyright statement in their usage rights that says alll photos are the property of the poster. You do not lose your rights by posting.

The photo in question was never posted anywhere except at this Orchid Gallery, where I think people are free to copy any photos they want here. I've never tried it, because I'm not interested in copying other peoples' photos.

I didn't realize one could formally register a photo online for copyrights.

Anyway, shortly after my past post, I e-mailed the vendor who had my photo on his site, and he apologized and promptly removed it.
