vickie, we are pretty wet here right now. This would be northwestern Greene Co. In fact, they are burning debris from the ice storm just outside of the small town near us. I think we would be quite safe to burn here. The weather is a funny thing, one county too wet and another in drought.

It is 52° and raining here right now. Hope we get a good rain and not too much wind.

I think this winter has been more wet than normal but this time of year, there's still dead grass in the hayfields so if there hasn't been rain for a few days and it's very windy like it was that day, it's dangerous to burn. With so many people burning limbs from the ice storm, the grass fires could keep the firefighters very busy. I'm glad they issue those burn bans. Some people don't have any sense at all about burning on windy days.

I'm glad that was cleared up with no serious drought.
amazon, loved to hear you refer to your DH as not playing with the tractor. I always referred to my DH as playing with the tractor,which he did but 99% of the time with such good results.
christie,we have the same kind of people who burn whenever the mood hits them. One neighbor had a fire works display last July 4th when there was a fireworks ban here because of drought and wind. The sheriff made a beleiver of him though.
