Cattleya skinneri
I don't think I want to show you the pictures I took at our OS latest show, as if you are anything like me you will be so green with envy you will never want to look at any of my pics again. For the first time we invited OSs from all over São Paulo state to participate and 8 did. We had nearly 900 plants on exhibition and at least twice that number for sale commercially. This Cattleya was just magnificent. What you see is only about a quarter of the whole plant, which had about 100 flowers. It won the rosette for Best Brazilian Species. Over the next few weeks I will try and show you some more, especially the ones that are rare or uncommon. I have been looking at orchids for over 20 years now and at this show I saw at least 30 that I had never come across before, including many unusual species. Please also, if you have time, look at the site I launched about a year ago on Flickr called Wildflowers of Brazil.
