Be careful what you wish for! I always wanted more room when we lived in Texas and had an increasingly shady yard due to the neighbor's trees on all sides of us.

So, we bought 14.5 acres and moved to Oklahoma, where we have more land than we can maintain (a lot of it doesn't get mowed but once a year) and.....if my garden were any larger, I wouldn't be able to maintain it.

Sometimes "plenty of room" is really "too much" and it seems I make my garden bigger every year (I can't help myself).....which ends up wearing me out by mid-summer.

There are some ways to squeeze in more plants. I garden biointensively, which lets me pack in up to 4 times as many plants as my gardening neighbors who garden in more conventional widely space rows. I sneak veggies and herbs into flower beds. I raise tomatoes, peppers and herbs in containers in various parts of the yard. I grow vertically whenever possible.

And, every chance I get (including some work scheduled for Memorial Day), I rototill up more bermuda grass lawn and replace it with veggie and flower beds. My goal is to someday have NO lawn, just beds and pathways. (NOT on the whole 14+ acres, just the acre or 2 closest to the house.) Since we moved here in 1999 and put in our first garden and flower beds, the amount of space devoted to veggie, flower and herb beds has at least quadrupled. I'd like to be converting lawn to other things more quickly, but it takes a lot of work to convert our brick-hard red clay to garden-worthy soil and beds.

So, good luck continuing to expand your gardens! I wish we had moved to the country and to a larger piece of land 15 or 20 years earlier.
