I use Gator but it must be sharpened a bit first before mowing. Always keep it sharp and keep air filter clean at all times. Tune up every year to keep up power. New mowers these days seem to be weak though (low RPM). For tune up, ask if they could improve RPM for better cutting.

You don't need to sharpen a new Gator blade according to the manufacturer. That's a common misconception. The paint wears off after the first mowing. I had no problems with mine straight out of the box.

Mower blades don't need to be razor sharp.
