I mentally file all stories like this in a category called "why I grow my own". That file gets larger and larger all the time.

When you say you still don't have any sesame seeds, do you mean that you don't have any seed to sow or that you've sown it but it hasn't had a chance to produce yet? Chandra grew sesame every year when he lived in Norman.

I don't have any seed, yet. I gave up on trying to identify the right type. The internet just doesn't have much on the gene split. One is for oil (bitter) and the other is for cooking.

Both Evergreen Seeds and Kitazawa Seeds have sesame seeds of different types. I bet if you look at their websites, maybe it will tell you which variety is used for which thing. I am pretty sure that Chandra grew black sesame, if that helps any.
