Helen, I love the mertensia...I have been meaning to try to find seeds. I had a neighbor who had a huge bed of them around her front porch and it looked so pretty.

Looks like the frogs are enjoying spring!

I tried planting bluebells once and they died. Are they one of those plants that don't like afternoon heat? I may have just neglected mine.
Not even going to comment on the frogs. lol

Christie, bluebells are ephemerals. They are not around in summer. Bleeding hearts do the same for me. Mine are in the shade of oaks; they bloom early and then die back. Hostas spread out to cover the space. Those are toads and there is more than one couple. I have little black tadpoles and masses of eggs. They have external fertilization so it isn't as bad as it looks - very interesting. The female is larger and the one who can swim. The male clings to her for several hours by my observation. There was a couple in this position and a single male singing his heart out; the female with friend attached swam over to the other male. I wondered if she changed her mind if she could throw off one suitor for another. I'm not weird just like to observe nature.
