Those are beautiful. I have a half whiskey barrel that I want to plant full of tulips and some smaller bulbs this fall. That is the only way I can have them.

I've given up on planting tulips. I have a raised bed in front of my porch that I filled with tulips one year. I was standing on my porch looking down at them and one disappeared before my eyes, leaves and all. Something pulled it down from underneath and all that was left was a hole. I couldn't believe it. I had planted about two dozen in the bed and only a couple lived to bloom. I haven't planted tulips since.

Does the pine bark keep the critters away?

Helen - You're hyacinths are really pretty. I just have wood hyacinths and have never tried the ones like you have.

Did you make the gazing ball and stand (I mean paint them)? Very pretty.

Christie, that is why I am planting in the tub. One year I planted a few dozen and nothing was seen every again!

Helen, are you an early-riser like me or a stay up late like I am definitely not?

I have a few (3?) tulips that have been in the same spot for 40 years!! Don't ask me why they keep going, I just don't know, others I plant bloom one year. But these few are down along the drive, and they get mowed off after they bloom, and keep coming back the next year.
Have any of you noticed that some flowers from the past just keep coming back? Like the Petunias, I didnt know some were self-seeding, till someone told me (and a good friend sent some-- thanks, Glenda)
