That is beautiful. I have learned that shrub wants water in the summer in my fast draining soil. I might try it again after seeing yours. I cut mine out after those two years of drought we had.

Very nice Christie! I planted one a couple of years ago and it's grown greatly, but yet to bloom. I took out a large photinia this year, and it's growing very thickly in the new light. Hopefully, it will bloom next spring.

Do you get berries? That is one of the nicest aspects of this shrub.

I'm turning into a really big fan of viburnums. On my wooded hillside I've got several rusty black haws. They bloom poorly in the dense shade, but have really nice foliage. I also have a V. burkwoodii "mohawk" that blooms really early in the spring. The flower clusters are a tasty rosey pink in bud and open white with a heady clove fragrance. It perfumes the whole backyard. I also have a V. obovatus (holly leaf viburnum) that is sposta be an eastern native. It has small evergreen leaves simular to yaupon. It's growing pretty well near my doublefile and has really grown in the newly opened up light. It has yet to bloom, and I know nothing about the flowers.

christie, it is just stunning. I should add that to my front border of shrubs.....I have a spot that stays pretty moist all summer...the grass is always greener there.
