deutzia

Is anyone familiar with the shrub Deutzia? It has trailing limbs covered with small white flowers.

I saw it on the grounds at the Hemingway Pfiefer Museum in

Piggot and I want some so badly! Where can I get it? And will it grow from cuttings? (just in case I have to resort to sneakily snipping )

HI.. I think it is hard to find that kind of shurb at nursery however I know where to get it... I need to find out if.. it can be cutting. The leaves remind me of forysthina, but the white flowers are so lovely. It is bell-shaped. I will be glad to send you some cutting, if it can grow rooting?? Kat

    Hey Angie!

You're in Hardy? I'm in Jonesboro, but I take trips to Hardy quite often, on my way to Mtn. Home to see Singintheblues (Kelley). Are you going to her plant swap Sat? I am. Would love to meet ya!

I had a deutzia. I got it from another trader named Angie in Union City TN. I moved it and to be honest, I forgot all about it. The area it is in is all grown up with weeds--a snake pit currently. I'll see if I can find it and if it's still alive. If so, I can bring you cuttings on my way to Mtn Home on Fri. or Sat. They usually spread by roots, so one shrub can become several. I'll see what that sucker has done, if I can even find it. LOL

I would love to hear more about the local gardening club you're in. maybe I could come to a meeting. I'm only an hour away, and my aunt lives there in Hardy, close to the riverfront. Shoot, I practically grew up there! I spent weeks during summer swimming in Spring River. My uncle and cousins worked for the Arkansas Traveller. My aunt and uncle managed Kelly's campground there by the old bridge.

    Hey Angie,

I went to look for the deutzia and almost didn't even see it! It's hidden by weeds and some elm trees that decided to grow while I wasn't looking. It's small but blooming! I would have missed it had I not seen a few white pompoms. I can bring you a couple of cuttings at the end of this week if you'd like.

    Hi ya'll,

My mom has 3 shrubs that the lady at the nursery said were either deutzias or beauty bush she thought, but had seen any in about 20 years so wasn't sure. They smell fabulous.

I live in Bentonville, ever come this way?

    Hi Angie!
We bought a house last fall, and this Spring it has been more fun to see what pops up. One of our favorite bushes happens to be a deutzia. It's in full bloom right now and our nursery also has them for sale. I'll find out how to propagate them.

Has anyone been able to find slender or nikko deutzia for sale or trade? I would like to obtain a few. Please let me know if anyone has come acrossed a grower or nursery or anybody willing to share.

    Thanks a lot!
