That statement is in direct contradiction to what I see:

The last new topic with no responses was October 18th, but the last posting was November 2.

No, but lawn care generally slows down in the winter, and organic fertilizers are usually only effective when soil temperatures are above 40 F. So in a way, organic lawns hibernate for the winter.

Only if people want it to be. Now may be the best time there is to ask questions and learn rather then during the growing season when there is less time available to do that.

Agreed. If you are planning to do something in the spring, now is a good time to talk about it. The worst time to talk about it is after you have started and already done something wrong. How many times have I seen this...
