Compton Gardens is just off the square in Bentonville. Ron and I went up last weekend and took a tour of the grounds..certainly worth going to see and they are having a plant sale:

I wanted to go and had it set in my mind to go. That nasty, evil place called work had to rear it's head and had to work all weekend.

Whoa, Beerhog..that was last weekend .. the plant sale was at Peel Mansion..this one is in the future..plan ahead and call in sick.

That sounds really interesting. It would be about a 2 hour drive from us but is worth considering. Am wondering which specific plants will be on sale. It's nice to know of public gardens that are near enough to visit. Thanks. EP

EP, contact them thru the website..I'm sure they must have a list of available plants. The trip would be worth it just to see the gardens. There are 3 state record trees on the property alone.

Thanks Kaye. We are thinking of going. The roadsides are beautiful now with wild flowers. We alway enjoy seeing what others do with native plants. EP

Would love to go but the company round starts this weekend and will continue till some time in august or september. Lots of family come and stay through the summer. Keep telling them they should come in the winter when it is so cold but they come for the heat. Hope all who go have a great time. Will be sitting here awaiting your postings to drool over. Judy

Beerhog and Ron and I are going up..hope to see some of you there..it's certainly worth the trip, I think. I'm emailing to see if I can get some list of plants available.

I did get an email back and the list is not available (only handwritten) but still would be worth a trip. The gardens were just opened this year in May after several years in the planting and planning and have a lot to offer. If you go, plan on visitng the Peel House Gardens as well..need I say..roses!

Thanks Kaye. We did go this morning early and were back here by noon. We visited both gardens. It took about an hour and twenty minutes each way. The roadsides were beautiful with wild flowers. Impressed with the gardens. EP

Sorry we missed you, EP. In a few more years, Compton Gardens newer plantings should realy be awesome. We loved the way they had tagged all the plants so there was little guess work. We came back with quite a few plants!
