Growing Palm from seed problems.....

Ok. So I grabbed some fruit from a large palm I saw while i was out.

I then got rid of the fruit, and planted the seeds.

They have now... either germinated, or rooted.

The seeds look like phoenix canariensis ones: http://www.scanpalm.no/phoenix_canariensis_seeds_small.JPG

Some of the seeds have sent out a long white thing out out of the side without the line/crevasse on it.

Some sites said this was a sucker root..... but now I'm starting to think that it has germinated.... and I merely put the seed the wrong way. (The long white thing is digging further and further into the ground.)

They have germinated right?, and is merely trying to find sun? Should I thus move the seeds so the tip of the long white thing is just at the surface?

Help would be appreciated.
