I have one that is attacked so badly each spring with aphids that is is deformed and blooms are affected greatly. I always forget to spray early enough. I wouldn't buy one again.

My mother remembers a "Snowball Bush" that was in her grandmothers yard and would like to have one, but I haven't been able to figure out what it was because it's a common name for different things, likely either some type of hydrangea or viburnum. The thread below lists some things that it might be and said the bloom time can be a clue.

Maybe you could just google some images of each one.

I think a hydrangea would be in bloom longer than a viburnum.

This is a good article too and shows photos of viburnum opulus roseum. I don't know if v. opulus is the same thing. Does this look like what you have?

My mother thought the snowball bush she remembered was fragrant so I got her a v. carlessi a few years ago and it was the wrong thing. I'd like to know what your friend decides especially if she grew up in Missouri.

Thanks for your replies. Wickmans say they have this bush. I haven't been to look at it but the leaves look right. They didn't give me a proper name but I'll find out when I go look at it, and let you know. Wickmans is on Facebook and they post good information and sale info. Plus, they will answer your questions. I asked them yesterday via Facebook about the old fashioned snowball and they replied before the day was over.
