Sounds like funnel weavers, or grass spiders Spiders give me the creeps, but they can be very beneficial. You would get rid of them just as you would any other spider, or insect.

I've always called them 'morning glory' spiders like, as the webs are lovely with dew on them. Small spiders, which eat a lot of nasties in your lawn.
