Gawd...those drapes make me want to kneel and say a prayer...I'd go with a three or four color scheme, create a mood board based on your favorite colors, say you love blue, then go with a blues, grays, greens, and a few pops of apple green or cobalt blue. The room also needs texture and natural elements to feel more contemporary. Green plants and simple bold artwork.

One idea I had for the room with the high ceilings is to do a stone feature wall for the wall that can't be seen in the 2nd picture above. It has a fireplace similar to the one in the third picture. Here is an example of a stone feature wall I like. I don't know what to use as window coverings. I'm also considering replacing the carpet with some engineered flooring. Any insight on what I can do with the windows?

I'm confused as to what to do with the TV room. The fireplace is off-center and over the mantle is really the only place to put the TV.

Congratulations on your new home! It is pretty vanilla right now but it has loads of potential...lovely windows, vaulted ceilings and spacious rooms. Definitely lose the fussy window treatments in favor of simple drapery panels and consider some tropical color to suit your pretty location. I presume the ornate fireplace will not remain if you are contemplating the stone wall.
