As long as the fruit is fully ripe it should be fine.

All passiflora generate cyanide as a natural defense against being eaten. This includes unripe fruit. Once the fruit is fully ripe--ie it drops from the vine--the cyanide is gone and the pulp is safe to eat. Maypops have been a food source for Native Americans for tens of thousands of years, after all. Avoid eating the rind, leaves and stems and you will be fine.

The dried leaves and stems have many, many uses. Makes a fine and "soothing" tea amongst other uses.
