What is the white flower in the fourth picture; I don't recognize it.

It is a type of garlic or garlic chives with peppervine leaves around it. Peppervine is another of my vines, very pretty, no flowers, covering stuff like my electric pole.

OK where are your September flowers?

Okay here are just a few of mine, taken now while it is
sprinkling lightly.

Wanted to show you my BIG clematis, Sweet Autumn,
this is the second year for it. Happy gardening.

caroline, now that is a stunning SAC, the others are very pretty too.

My flowers are really not photo worthy. We have had no rain in August and I don't water most beds...

I should have some mums in a few days and anemone robustissima is blooming very nicely.

We are getting nice rains today and it is a brisk 66°.

I think most any flower is worthy of a pic, your are
pretty, this lantana grows so big and fast and the
humming birds like it better than the syrup I put out
for them, they dart from one flower to another. I have to
trim it back it gets so large.

My mums are just begining, the asters are almost in full
bloom. Its been lightly raining here all day, 60 degrees.

Caroline your SAC on the arch is what I want now. That vine looks good when it has the proper place. I have almost forgiven mine for smothering my shrubs because the fragrance is overpowering in a good way. Glenda is the anemone hard to grow? Don't apologize for your photos; I can see several plants of interest there. Is the tobacco fragrant? I had a red flowering tobacco years ago that was wonderfully fragrant in the evening. I have not found any that fragrant since; it may be my nose got old.

Some sweet pototoe vines I bought when they were
very small. I then started a sweet pototoe in some
water and it is still growing great vines. Some one ask
if it would have sweet pototoes in the dirt? I guess I
will find out when I get tired of it. caroline

Save your tuber for plants next year. I probably could have cut up mine like a seed potatoe to get more plants, but did not.

Over wintered in my garage that does not drop below freezing if I keep the door closed. Treated like like any tender tuber.

Caroline, if I buy a small lantana plant in May, will it get that big in a season?

Helen , yes it will, mine die's down to the ground in fall, and sorta late coming up, BUT, make sure you get the bush
type, not the creeping kind that stays on the ground. I
don't know if I still have the tag but will look for
it tomorrow. It grows fast and coverd my bird bath and I
have cut it back a couple times. More info on it tomorrow.

Here's some of mine but I had to do some searching to find flowers that didn't look pathetic after August.

Caroline - My mum 'Beth' looks a lot like yours. I wonder if it's the same one. I'm jealous of that lantana since it comes back. Which side of your house do you have it planted by? Very impressive that your clematis is only on it's second year and it must have a million blooms.

Helen - you have some pretty flowers and yours and Caroline's containers still look great. I let mine get a little too dry. Nothing died but they lost some leaves. I guess they'll bounce back.
I saved a big sweet potato from a lime colored vine and kept it dry in my kitchen cabinet all winter. In early spring, I potted it horizontally but only covered it halfway. I put it by a kitchen window and kept the soil slightly moist and it sent up several sprouts that I broke off and potted. It worked pretty good but I don't think they always make potatoes - at least mine don't.

Helen, the name of my lantana is,"Lantana camara
'Confetti'" hardy to zones 9-11, the nurseries here
say it is an annual. I have mine on West side of my house.
and the tag is Printed with "PERENNIAL" I got it in 2006
and it started blooming first of June. Blooms untill frost.Hope this helps. Happy gardening , caroline

Christie your pink sedum flowers look good with the silvery foliage. I'll bet I have more ugly stuff than anyone else. I'll go outside spend most of the day and hardly make a dent in my mess. Caroline,I have never attempted to over winter lantana - thought there was no hope. I haven't bought it in years. It is supposed to be poisonous, but so are oriental lilies and the animals don't eat those. I will probably try it next year. When I made my first communion age 7, my white frilly dress had a pink flower on it that looked like lantana, so I am interested for more than one reason.

Christie your flowers are very pretty, my sedum is ready to
show its color any day, I really like yours. Helen you do
have pretty flowers, I spend a lot of time in my garden.
I do also have a few ugl plants, fall is making a showing.
I don't know the name of my mum, got it locally and it
didn't have a name. I cut the sweet autumn off to the
ground each fall. I had many potted plants last summer
and they didn't do so good, I know now that I did not
water them enough,I have really put the water to them

I bought 2 of these yellow cannas last year at a nursery,
for $1.00 each, were in pots and blooming. They have done
great, will probably have to divide them soon. I also
have some large, 6ft. ones, salmon colored that are in

Hey, the sun just came out after the rain. Everything looks so green now.

christie, you knew I was going to ask the name of your flowers didn't you ,especially the celosia (pink flower)and the sedum. Did you pinch it to keep it from flopping?

Caroline, I have never tried the cannas either....don't know why. The one you have is really pretty.

The faded flowers should be cut off when they are finished.
They will keep blooming till frost. I leave them in the
ground, with out mulch and they come back thicker every
year. I also have red ones. Happy gardening, caroline

Are you sure you are zone 6? Just kidding. What has kept me from lots of bulbs is having to dig them up each Fall. Do you pile mulch on top or anything else for protection?

I know I can leave glads and dahlias in with protection.

Gld - I don't know what kind of celosia that is. They came up after my seed box cleaning out this spring.
I don't know the name of that sedum either. It blooms a little earlier than my Autumn Joy and the flowers are sort of purplish pink. The foliage is a lighter green. I bought it on clearance at a nursery but there was no tag. The photos on the web of different sedums are no help at all since they go through color changes and I think they vary in color from one garden to another depending on the amount of light and things like that. I think I pinched it once earlier this summer. You're testing my memory.

Pretty canna Caroline. Most of mine rotted this year. They were getting extra runoff from our shed when it rained so much this spring.

Gld, I was in zone 7 all my life , till they changed it to 6.I don't mulch any thing too good, I had glads one year and they didn't do so good. I usually just put mulch down
on all my beds to help with weeds. Christie, I like your
sedum, never thought about pinching it , but will next
year, it flops so bad, and I didn't put rings around them..
I been pulling coxcomb, I planted the crest seeds but it

Glenda I leave my cannas in the ground, but I do mulch. I think they would compare to glads in hardiness. If you get some, get them from a friend who has had them a while because there's a new virus.
