I would suggest going to your nearest farm supply store, possibly an MFA, and buying one of their mixes. They will have what will grow in your area.

Welcome back to the Ozarks! My sis lives in the Des Moines area.......beautiful soil, but don't like their winters!!

We are all gardening here......you will master it in short order. The major difference I see is that because of our rocks, our rains don't stay in the upper soil nearly as long as in the DM region so we can get into a dry-soil/drought condition much faster.
