I like the red Barberry. I have one also, that I enjoy .
( I see it has lost almost all it's leaves. )
You are fortunate that the wren used your gourd. I tried to entice them to some of mine, but they preferred other habitats, like the inside of DH's shop..:-(
They are roudy little buggers, but I love them.

One of our barberries was pretty this year too. I've never noticed it having good fall color before.
I have some birdhouse gourd seeds in my seed box to plant next spring. I tried them once before but planted them too late and had some very small gourds at the end of the season. My mother has some that my kids painted several years ago. She gets wrens in them every year and can watch them from her kitchen sink through the window.

I bought a couple of dwarf pygmy barberrries at KMart many years ago and one of them was mismarked. It's a full size shrub while the other one stayed smaller. It was a nice color this fall though.

I need to figure out why my pics are so big. When I put them on Photobucket before, it resized them automatically for me when they were uploaded. The last group I did is huge and I'm afraid they're taking a long time to come up on some computers (like mine).
