Are you looking for native persimmons? Here in southern Oklahoma they grow wild everywhere. The problem with getting enough fruit to make pudding or anything else is that the coyotes get all the fruit long before it is ripe!

Yeah, them's the ones.
If I go back through southern IL in the fall, I can always purchase some pulp, but I don't know that I'm going to be there. Plus, just buying the pulp takes all the drudgery out of it--no cleaning, pitting, smushing, rubbing, etc., etc...Almost makes me feel guilth eating something that good without doing the work for it.

Maybe I can come across some far enough into the city that the coyotes will leave them alone. Then again, the coyotes are just about everywhere anymore. Flexible rascals, they are...
