I wonder how much of a difference just a wrapping of burlap would make to minimize sun and wind damage. Not the first time I've heard that the winter sun causes damage when the ground is frozen.

It's definitely useful to see the difference in damage between the two varieties, both of which have reputations to be among the hardiest varieties of trachycarpus.
