The only one I can think of is an incarnata "Maypop" but I didn't think it was hardy beyond zone 6.

There are incarnata native to the Ohio area that have adapted to the cold winters there. Incarnata imported from other states would most likely not survive. If this plant your beautician has growing is indeed an incarnata, it will be sending up daughter plants throughout the yard. These can be dug up by the roots and transplanted easily. That's what I'd recommend.

The only other two that I can think of that may survive there are caerulea and lutea. Lutea is a small vine with inconspicuous yellowish flowers, so I doubt this is what you're looking at. Caerulea withstands light freezes far better than any other passi, but I don't know how well it'd handle a zone 5 winter. Can you describe the flowers for us? That would help narrow down the suspects.
