They're the asian lady beetle (bug to me) imported few year ago, they evidentally dont like the cold, and want to live inside. they also bite--and they taste terrible-dont ask how I know.

We have them in droves too and they are determined to get in our house. ceresone I've been bit too but have'nt tried to bite back. LOL
Are these bugs good for anything or are they just pests?

The Asian Ladybeetles were imported as biocontrol for all the little critters which are also eaten by their native cousins. Ladybeetles are excellent at controling aphids, mealybugs, and other soft-bodied insects. They are a nusiance in cold times as they head indoors and seem to perish in our windowsills. I didn't know they bite us too!

Next spring when we see them on our plants remember to be kind to them because they are hungry little buggers. Also remember that the larvae eat even more than the adults. The larvae look kinda like if a beetle was morphed into a indy racer. They are longer, less round, and more black with yellow or orange markings. A google search will show some good photos of ladybeetle larvae. I have known the larvae to bite us.

This is the first time I have had them come inside the house....just read that vacuuming them is the easiest way to get rid of them. I need to give that a try.

Well, William, I can reccommend you dont try them with coffee. (maybe more sugar-humm)
