You might find them at one of the big box stores among the houseplants. One type is often labeled Nematanthes'Christmas Holly', the other one is Columnea banksii, the most common Gold Fish Plant. Both are in the Gesneriad Family. Google for photos and care info.

Nemantanthus are these days usually referred to as goldfish plants but, I remember when that was the common name for Columneas, and Nemantanthus were referred to as 'Guppy Flower' plants. Times change. Both are actually vining plants that do not climb. They are both primarily epiphites that grow in the branches of trees in tropical and far sub-tropical climes. Accordingly they both enjoy a loose soil with good drainage.

If you do a search for Kartuz on the web you will come up with a very reliable mail-order nursery for many types of gesneriads, including many Nemantanthus and Columnea varieties. They have been in business for years now in southern california. The website has lots of pics.

Some Nemantanthus and Columneas are everblooming but, for some reason the ones most commonly found in nurseries and stores are not the everblooming types. I never could figure out why that was so when there are so many beautiful bloomaholics of either genus available if one goes the extra mile to search them out.

I have a goldfish vine of my own here. It was bought locally, and is not a bloomaholic. Sigh....
