I realize this is not the answer you are looking for, but in case someone else is looking, I saw P. vitifolia yesterday at the Summer Winds Nursery in Cupertino, CA (near San Jose). Obviously call as it may be gone, although this is a small chain and it's possible they may have it elsewhere. It had several blooms--nice flowers. 5 gallon if I remember. I didn't check the price.

Best of luck on getting the plant. Personally I hope there are a few people out there who are willing to spare pieces of plants, especially if they are about to throw them in the trash (vitifolia looked like a strong grower that would require HEAVY pruning). I'm sure the survival rate even of an unrooted cutting in a padded envelope is high enough that it's worth a friendly gesture without expecting anything in return. Although that could of course get out of hand.

I should add that I can't personally make the same offer at the time for any Passiflora (and don't plan on getting P. vitifolia), but in the next year will almost certainly have Lady Lavender and 1 or more edulis for cuttings and probably more edulis as seedlings. If anyone is interested check back. If I broke down and got anything more exotic it would probably be too small...

Anyway, hopefully someone will read your post and decide to get rid of a couple pieces of their monster vine. I know that requests like yours sometimes get ignored.
