There was a freezing line coming our way--but it all stayed rain here--over3"

We got quite a bit of ice in Joplin, lot of breakage. We've lost two trees, a Washington hawthorn and a good-size redbud that just toppled over with their ice load, plus a whole lot of limbs. Many small trees are bent over double and there are a lot of limbs from the bigger ones touching or nearly so to the ground. Right now we're just praying for a thaw and hoping the wind doesn't come up so we don't lose any more big limbs or trees. The roads are all clear though, and the ground is pretty much bare of snow and ice. 23 degrees here today, the sun was out for a bit but is gone now. Tomorrow is supposed to start warming up, and continue for the rest of the week so maybe it will all melt. Lot of cleanup to do.

Well, Sandy said it all for Joplin. Fortunately, I didn't lose any trees that I know of. It does break your heart to see the branches touching the ground.

This weather is hard on everyone, especially old dogs. Katy usually thinks the house is overheated, but not lately!

No bad winds, no ice in 2014 will be my Christmas gift. Please.
