I think that to begin with, perlite and plastic cups are your best best.

A couple of the common varieties of passionflowers can be tricky, although most are not. If you know which one(s) you have it's worth mentioning it.

I often use methods very similar to Eric and Randy but am honestly a lazy propagator and will try most cuttings in water before resorting to a solid medium. I've had very good results using water with a little B1 or Superthrive added along with bottom heat if indoors or a shelf in the greenhouse (in a shaded area) during the summer. I'd say I get roots on about 80% of my cuttings that way with many different varieties including tasconias. I also have rarely found it to be a problem adjusting the cuttings from water to soil.

80% is pretty impressive. How long does that tend to take and how often do you change the water? Which Tacsonias? Are you planning on trying P. membranacea in water?

Of course one advantage besides ease and simplicity is that you can monitor the progress of rooting really easily.

I'd say an average of 3 weeks for most. The tasconias I've rooted are mollissima, antioquiensis and the exoniensis that you sent. I don't change the water at all. I just add to make up for evaporation. If they are going to take I've noticed that the water doesn't foul, only if the cuttings are rotting. I don't have any luck with cuttings taken from really soft new growth but anything a bit firmer usually works. The addition of B1 and bottom heat (when inside) seem to make a difference. I'm going to try the membranacea in water as well. I didn't have great results in perlite the last time. I might try some in vermiculite too.
