I tried a new salvia last year. It was a much deeper shade of blue. I really liked it very much and will definitely do it next year. It is called Evolution.

I always do from seed; meant to say that and the supplier was Park Seed Co.....not my favorite company, but I am sure others have it too. I also like Jung Seed Co.

My all-time favorite annual which I use every year is vinca; no diseases, no insects, easy from seed and you can save seeds from it. It is a great front of the border plant. The Mediterranean variety is great for baskets too.

Have you all tried the seed exchange forum here on GW? Great way to get cheap seed.

Love that salvia! What a beautiful color

I can never think of the name of this stuff. It bloomed heavily in the spring, stopped over summer, then was gorgeous in the fall. I dug it up and I'm going to try to keep it in the house over winter. It still has a few blooms left even now. I took this picture a couple weeks ago:

It was also my first year to grow bat-face cuphea. It made a nice mound of bright red and stayed in bloom all summer. It didn't seem to get a lot bigger than it was when I planted it though.
