Come to think of it- they destroyed a grape vine I had back in NY, but didn't touch whatever kind of passion flower I had at the time- It was my very first one.. Could have been a maypop as I picked up the fruit while training (the "if I tell you I'll have to kill you" stuff) in .... Some part of one of the carolinas.. I think. It all blurs together after a while. Anyway... The beetles didn't want it.

I have 2 passion vines one is a X alato and that seems to be the favorite food of theirs! I have to take a feather duster to the blooms to get the critters off of them otherwise they decimate the blooms.

Yes they do. The bigger leafed vines are not bothered too much. The small thin leafed species vines are their favorites. Beetles will eat these stems bare.

I just planted a small, hardy to zone 6 plant and each time a flower opens the beetles eat it to nothing in hours. Very disapointing!

I have grown a few different varieties in containers out on the patio during the summer for the last 4 years. For some reason this year, the Japanese Beetles decided that they liked them. Never before have they bothered them until this year. Not sure why, they ate everything else they usually eat too. I just sprayed with Sevin that took care of it.
