William did you want to know which of these named plants grow best here or where to get the ready produce? Sorry i'm probably dense.

Straight 8,s cukes did well for us. Climbing butterbean seed we got locally did more than great for us too. I loved to hide in the vines and watch the birds and bugs.

Those beans you could see hanging in my hoophouse frame were a bean from Park Seed Co. called Kwintus. It is all I have raised for three years now; we really like it.

I switch around on cukes and I have never raised nor cooked nor eaten eggplant. I need to give them a try. I think any variety of cuke would grow and produce well for you. I think I did Sweet Success and Cool Breeze last year.

went through my seed stash and found 7-8 different varieties of cukes. from painted serpent to boothbys blonde. guess i dont need to order any seeds.

have 2 different pole beans. barns mountain and tobacco worm. i can't find emerite or fortex. don't know what happened to them?!

gldno1- eggplant does very well in containers. i wouldn't use anything smaller then 5 gals. they can get quite large.

thanks for the input but it doesn't look as if i will be ordering a lot of seeds this yr. shucks!

I finally used up most of my leftover seeds last year and then tossed what was left. I will be starting fresh.

Do you just do heirloom seeds and plants?

gldno1- i try to do op's as much as possible. whenever you want to save seeds, they are there for the taking. i was trying to save a few pole bean seeds this fall. i was putting dried pods on the side rails of the beds to pick up later. they disappeared. found out later my wife was coming behind me cleaning up! as usual she said.

peppers are harder. things that might suit your palate usually end up being a hybrid. for me anyway.
