I have one I ordered from Logees last fall and it is massive. I have in a 3 gallon pot and the vines would be >20 feet long if they were unwrapped. (I twist mine around a 6 foot bamboo tee pee.) I kept it in the greenhouse last winter. The vine is very healthy but as of yet has not produced any sign of a bloom.

I have one I planted out this spring and it has swallowed an 8 x 4 trellis and has started up the roof several feet, with many branches. It is massive to be so young. GATROPS informed me that it is more of a cool weather bloomer so we'll see how she does in a few months. I got mine from kartuz.com

I bought some seeds from ebay and they were quite easy to grow. Mine is also huge but no sign of flowers yet.

I posted earlier regarding fertilizer. P. Alata especially love my 2-10-10 Bandini Fertilizer. I had it for a year with no flowers at all.. I gave it some 2-10-10 and a week later it was full of blooms. Try it and you will be surprized at how well they will do.

Bad news! My ebay seedling finally bloomed (it's about 20+ feet long now), once the weather got cooler. It's NOT an alata at all! Lookes like p. edulis. Boo hoo.

Mine now has bloomed a half dozen blooms a day for over two weks and has rewarded me with about 6 massive fruit. I hope they ripen before it gets too cold!

W.Islander,do you know what cross pollinated your ruby glow to get fruit?

My ruby glow bloomed pretty heavily up until a week or so ago. I tried to pollinate with everything I had in the yard and nothing worked to set fruit. I did have a few fruit try to set and grow a little and then drop. It looked like cross pollination with P. Incense or P. edulis "McCain" (a flavacarpa) or P. foteida had the best initial growth but all eventually dropped.

I just started five Alata seeds a couple of days ago --- if I get germination, I may have a seedling to trade (or clones in a couple of months) The morifolia seeds I started in September are almost large enough to take cuttings from already! I hope the seeds I just started appreciates the orange juice soak and being sown in 100% coir as the morifolia did.

I used p. carulea pollen..and have been disappointed in the fruit set in terms of numbers...but my caerulea has about played out now...and the alata is still going strong.

watergal- who did you purchase from? i recently purchased alata and ligularis seeds off eBay.

I also got seed that were suppose to be Alata. The blooms on the one I have blooming looks like Eudlis in color but is about twice as large and is highly fragrant. Not the red and purple bloom I was expecting but is still a pretty bloom. Must be a fall bloomer as it grew aggressively all summer but just started to bloom in the past couple of weeks. I am glad I did not trade my extra plants and disappoint anyone. Such a shame to wait two years and not get what you expect.
