I would recommend waiting until late winter or early spring to start the seeds indoors, then plant out as soon as its warm enough. The seeds can be placed in a loose ziplock bag with some lightly dampened potting soil, and stored in a refrigerator. When ready to germinate, just move the bag to room temp, and pick out and transplant the sprouting seeds, which should start germinating after a couple of weeks.

If you want to bury them, wait until cooler weather so they don't germinate prematurely. I would scatter them over a bigger area and cover with a thick layer of mulch, rather than bury the whole fruit and have very crowded seedlings later.
