passion flower in trouble..please help

this is a long shot because I'm not sure which variety this is. .... at any rate, I bought it, planted it in a barrel and it was doing very well..from Aug 1st till September 10... I came out to look at it and it looked like this !! I don't have a picture of it when it was fine, but it was...very pretty and blooming. How could this happen so fast ? Did I over water?

ok... maybe not overnight... I know that only happens with frost. Is there a way I can save it, do you think?

It's hard to tell. Did you check the soil it's planted on? Perhaps the water isn't drying out and the roots are rotting. I would dig and see if the roots are intact, if the water is draining well, lay some of the vine and cover with soil, and possibly take a cutting and put in water to try to root.
