Looking at this plant the first thought that comes to mind is definately *not* "Oh that's a passionflower"...

Leaves as big as my hand..

What the heck is it?

Passiflora macrophylla.

Recently scored on ebay.. For those of you who *thought* you were going to get it... I have a Sniper.

Never had a "tree passiflora" before- I guess they can get freakin' {{gwi:1134482}}.. Hopefully I can keep it alive long enough to bloom- I guess it's good to 10C, but no idea what humidity / light it might need. Anyone out there have a clue they might pass?

Then one hopes it's self fertile as I'd imagine my chances of coming across another "polination compatible" type plant might be rather slim.

Krstofer, everything I've heard about the tree indicates that cold isn't a problem with this one, but heat is. Once the temps rise above the 70s, it starts to hurt pretty badly--which is why I'll never try to grow it here in central Texas! Good luck with it, tho. I know I'd love to have one myself.

Well, the lady down at the Farmers Market had a few of them.. Also a couple lindeniana & arborea for $15 but they were in 10 gallon pots & I didn't think they'd fit in the car. So I had to come home & borrow the neighbor's truck.. But by the time we got back- They were gone.

Ok seriously it was like $60 or something.. Good thing I'd already bought Brat food & paid the rent this month.

Maybe if / when it gets big I'll root you a branch & we can trade.

Going to have to construct some sort of light contraption for it or something- Or get one of my HID's from M&D's barn (back in Ca) as i suspect shortly it'll outgrow the terrarium & I'm sure as heck not putting it outside this winter.
